Faith restored 🩷🩷🩷 Finally had them engag Faith restored 🩷🩷🩷 Finally had them engaged in hands-on investigations again… hot tip… just don’t offer ANY worksheets 🤣🤣

If you’ve missed my stories over the week you may be thinking I’ve gone mad (not yet!) but I had been sharing how my class are really quite obsessed with worksheets which has been, of course, breaking my heart!!

MANY people have noticed the same thing!! My theories
🩵 They need something tangible to feel that they’ve done ‘work’. I think they would be more interested in the hands on activities if they had the ability to take a photo of their work. I’m brainstorming on an easy solution to that with the tech I have
🩵 Bit of a covid aftermath?? These kids would have been the lockdown kids and would have worked from a lot of paper or tech with a big sense of completion 🤷🏽‍♀️

Look, I shouldn’t complain… their absolute FAVOURITE thing at the moment are my Decode and Draw mini books!!

How about you.. are you experiencing the same?
It’s amazing what a $15 bag of 1000 paddle pop s It’s amazing what a $15 bag of 1000 paddle pop sticks and some rubber bands can do!!!

Absolutely smashing place value with my little crew that I help out with some extra support! We built numbers (bundling the paddle pop sticks), we recorded numbers, we subtracted 10s and even recorded that!!

The rest of the bag will dumped on the floor for a whole class counting lesson… aka… bundling all the 10s because that would take me way too long 🤣🤣

Are you a bigger fan of MAB or paddle pop sticks (yes they both have their place but there’s still a preference)
I am probably that person.. I apologise in advance I am probably that person.. I apologise in advance 🤣🤣

Who’s your person? Tag them below 👇🏽
You can keep 2 stories… which ones are you keepi You can keep 2 stories… which ones are you keeping?? So cruel, so very, very cruel 🤣🤣

Now… what new ones would you like to add?? Mrs Wishy Washy has been highly requested!
World Bee Day 🐝 means I absolutely HAVE to shar World Bee Day 🐝 means I absolutely HAVE to share these number representation puzzles because they always create a buzz (🤣 oh yes I did!!)

Can I also just chuck in the recommendation of using @minizoo.shop minis as counters! I built my collection slowly with different themes and they are always so loved when I bring them out!!
Instagram.. my fave collegial observation, staffro Instagram.. my fave collegial observation, staffroom chat & professional development!!

I am a visual learner.. always have been. So I love to SEE how people are doing things then adapt to how I need it in the classroom.

When I saw this awesome set up by @talknchalk I immediately added it into next week’s 2D Shape investigations! I love that it takes it from real life back to abstract which I know will get a few of my guys’ brains ticking!!

Do you have any amazing accounts that you just love to get ideas from?? I have SO many, l’ll need to do a separate post!!
She might not have nailed everything in puppy pres She might not have nailed everything in puppy preschool but she nailed her graduation photo 🤣

Tilly the graduate… booked straight into the next lot of training because she is super smart but super impulsive.. fits right into our family 🤣
Just going to put it out there that picture cards Just going to put it out there that picture cards are actually the MVP of my classroom!! Particularly colour coded, decodable levelled ones!

These picture cards are from my Mapping Mats Pack. This week we’re using them with playdough stampers, last week on the light table and the week before with the actual Mapping Mats!

One resource I can not live without!!
