Macaroon Beginning Sounds Cover Up

$2.85 AUD inc. GST

A great resource for literacy rotations or even use for observational assessment of beginning sounds.

Categories: English, Foundation/Prep, Phonics

Description

A great resource for literacy rotations or even use for observational assessment of beginning sounds.

Use manipulatives to cover up the pictures that start with that beginning sound. The inspiration for these has come from cute macaroon erasers from Kmart, but you could easily use counters, playdough or buttons.

Each beginning sound is represented 6 times on each page except for ‘x’ where it is beginning and ending sounds.

I have purposely used similar sounds as the alternates to add a slight challenge to this activity.

More resources are being added regularly and I love showing how we’re using them, so make sure you are following my FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM so you can see!!

Maths or Science are my faves for setting up play-based learning because they just lend themselves to hands-on!!

They also could be set up for a few weeks, allowing you time to observe your kids before having to change it!

Are you finding it tricky to start? Let me know your year level and maybe I can help!

Recognising if a word is real or nonsense is a rea Recognising if a word is real or nonsense is a really big part of reading development! But it’s so important that the words are decodable and target sounds and graphemes that the children are working on!

These Real or Nonsense Games are colour coded for easy differentiation (each colour is a phonics level CVC, CVCC etc) and I’ve made them in 6 different levels so they are perfect for a classroom with lots of different abilities!! My class LOVE them!

If you’d like to check them out comment GAME and I’ll message you the link 🩷
There really is something so special about watchin There really is something so special about watching them start to form words!! They took these things that look like squiggles and started to put them together to form actual words!!

Things I use every week in my classroom… our acrylic letters and the picture cards from our mapping mats! There are so many ways to use clear, levelled picture cards!!

Do you have little ones starting school next year or you’ve noticed your littles needing more fine motor support?? Grab out the washi tape or painters tape and some loose parts!!

Swipe through for 4 activities that promote pincer grip, left to right progression, crossing the midline, letter recognition and hand-eye coordination!!

🌻 Spirals… this will take some dedication on your part to lay that tape down not going to lie 🤣 but this is a great one for following the line and colour recognition for younger children
🌻 Name recognition.. this is great for kids who are ready for early letter formation
🌻 Shapes… a fun one for following the line. You could add patterning to your loose parts when placed on the shape
🌻 Pre-writing lines… encourage starting on the left and moving to the right

Love this? Make sure you save it for later and tag some friends who would love it too!
