Description
This resource is designed as a fun way to practice rhyming and decoding words! It is also great for building visual literacy (actually recognising what the picture is!)
Children read the word then find the rhyming picture and colour. If they are not sure what the picture is, encourage them to leave it to the end for process of elimination.
This document is split into 2 x 25 page documents. One document includes pictures of the word that the child is reading. As rhyming is started as an oral language skill, the children can use these before reading skills are developed (and also as a great way to check and build confidence!). The next document just has the words to read with no pictures.
They are then differentiated by the decodable words and the reading skills for these. All pages are numbered – these match to the answer sheets
-
- 1-5 – mixed CVC words
- 6-10 – CVC, CVCC, CCVC words grouped by medial short vowel sound
- 11-15 – mixed CVC, CVCC, CCVC words
- 16-20 – long vowel teams and CVCe words grouped by long vowel sound
- 21-25 – mixed long vowel sounds and diphthong words
All words are decodable and all Australian State Fonts are included!! Please note that there are some words marked with a star. These words are decodable but have a consonant that is not making its ‘traditional’ sound (g in germ saying j).
If you love these make sure you check out the BUNDLE which is full of decodable word versions and makes it so easy to differentiate!!
* There is a separate file included with the US spelling of color
More resources are being added regularly and I love showing how we’re using them, so make sure you are following my FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM so you can see!!
