When your little one starts school they will be given high frequency words/sight words/magic words/etc that they need to be able to read and recognise. For us, we have been creating a number of different activities for Everly to build on her ability to recognise hers! This is one high frequency word activity that you could use at home or in the classroom, and it’s fun too!
For this ones set up, you’ll need a chalk marker (I used a white one) and Connetix Tiles. Write the words on the Connetix Tiles. The aim is that they create houses, so you’ll need to write the word twice – once on the square and once on the triangle. The kids then need to match them and create little houses.
Other ways that you can use this activity (aka creating more Connetix houses!) is:
🏠 Upper and lower case match
🏠 Numbers and number words/representations/dots for subitising
🏠 If you can draw you could draw a picture on the square and then the word or beginning sound on the triangle
🏠 Rhyming words
🏠 Before or after (so you could have a number written on the square and you need to connect the triangle number that’s “before” or “after”)
