Getting Organised For The School Year

Are you heading back into a classroom? Or maybe you are going into a classroom for the first time? Or this isn’t your first round, but you’d still love some amazing tips on getting organised for the school year.

While these tips are definitely more suited to a classroom, they can definitely help you in getting organised for the school year, even if you teach your kids from home.

Storage is something that I love, and you will know this if you follow me over on Instagram. Why? Because it just means that everything has its own place and it’s organised.

I have had my own for YEARS. But I found this storage file at Officeworks and my goodness it’s just like my vintage 😅 one! When do I use it? All those admin-y type things. I love that you can hang it and it takes up zero space!

Food and drink organisation. I found this trolley from Kmart and have used my Scandi Animals labels. When do I use it? For drink bottles and munch & crunch, that way these things are out of the kids bags straight away, and we can get straight into the drinking or crunching when needed!

I just mentioned the Scandi Animals labels above, but did you know that they are all resizeable (not just the Scandi Animals one, but ALL of the ones that I have available?!) They can be used for book boxes, tubs, shelves, tables, you get the idea. Anywhere and everywhere! I use this for overall organisation.

Feeling like you could use a planner for your wall? Then might I suggest this one from Daily Orders? Use the code SOMMER10 for a discount! I use mine to plan out the entire term personally and within the classroom. That way nothing is ever missed! A must-have!

Zivia Designs 2023 Diary

And I am definitely still a paper diary planner too! Which is why I love mine from Zivia Designs. I love them so much that this years is my FIFTH planner from them! They are honestly the best and if there’s any left then use the code STAYCLASSY and treat yourself to a more organised and shit together year 😏

And finally, did you catch this reel? I shared some of my absolute faves in here. From Zip Wallets, Storage tubs a concertina wallet, stone storage and more! They are perfect for bits and pieces like story stones, but also other loose parts, cards that go with my printables (so perfect once you’ve made them up!)

Are you feeling organised in your classroom? I hope you are more so after this post!

Recognising if a word is real or nonsense is a rea Recognising if a word is real or nonsense is a really big part of reading development! But it’s so important that the words are decodable and target sounds and graphemes that the children are working on!

These Real or Nonsense Games are colour coded for easy differentiation (each colour is a phonics level CVC, CVCC etc) and I’ve made them in 6 different levels so they are perfect for a classroom with lots of different abilities!! My class LOVE them!

If you’d like to check them out comment GAME and I’ll message you the link 🩷
There really is something so special about watchin There really is something so special about watching them start to form words!! They took these things that look like squiggles and started to put them together to form actual words!!

Things I use every week in my classroom… our acrylic letters and the picture cards from our mapping mats! There are so many ways to use clear, levelled picture cards!!

Do you have little ones starting school next year or you’ve noticed your littles needing more fine motor support?? Grab out the washi tape or painters tape and some loose parts!!

Swipe through for 4 activities that promote pincer grip, left to right progression, crossing the midline, letter recognition and hand-eye coordination!!

🌻 Spirals… this will take some dedication on your part to lay that tape down not going to lie 🤣 but this is a great one for following the line and colour recognition for younger children
🌻 Name recognition.. this is great for kids who are ready for early letter formation
🌻 Shapes… a fun one for following the line. You could add patterning to your loose parts when placed on the shape
🌻 Pre-writing lines… encourage starting on the left and moving to the right

Love this? Make sure you save it for later and tag some friends who would love it too!
2nd bubbler on the left is the BEST one and if tha 2nd bubbler on the left is the BEST one and if that doesn’t work I’ve got some ice wrapped in a magic paper towel 🤣
What do you love to do for you? With holidays here What do you love to do for you? With holidays here for some and fast approaching for others, what’s your ‘me time’?

I LOVE my plants! Moving them, propagating them, repotting them, watching new leaves grow and buying new ones 🤣 I have spent my first weekend of holidays just immersed in planty goodness 🪴🪴🪴

Did you catch my little mug tip (because we all know teachers get lots of mugs!)… keep your cuttings in them instead of vases!
Mine is font recognition… Show me a letter in an Mine is font recognition… Show me a letter in an Australian State Font and I will be able to tell you which state it is from instantly 🤣🤣🤣 Pretty sure I’m NEVER going to sling that one out at a trivia night 🤣 but when you see them as much as I do in all of our resources it’s bound to be burned in the brain!!! I’ll keep banking up my plant knowledge for the trivia night 🪴🤓

So do you have a random talent? The more random the better please!
I do love a good maths activity!!! There is just I do love a good maths activity!!!

There is just something about watching learning happen in a hands-on way, watching them not even realise they’re learning and watching their brains connect and grow that just sparks pure joy!!

In saying that, I’m 100% ready for holidays and turning my alarms off this morning also sparked pure joy 🤣 Balance 🫶🏽

Let me know if you want to know any more about any of these activities and if your term is done don’t forget to turn those alarms off!!
