Ahh, mathematics. Most kids aren’t always pumped when learning about numbers, which is why it’s important to make it play-based and FUN 💕 Here are 3 mathematics activities that I absolutely love to use with my own kids or in the classroom!! Feel free to use them in your own classroom too!!
Construction with MAB Blocks
Okay, first up. Love this set up from @learninginjp!!
Why? Because it’s interacting and allows that element of play!! And there’s multiple ways to play with this. There’s the “intended” way, but so many others, such as:
- The trucks collecting the MAB block and delivering to the right Acrylic Number
- All the blocks being added to all the different numbers, and then the child using the trucks to takeaway the additional blocks
- Rearranging the Acrylic Numbers in order, and then adding the blocks under each
Friends of 10
Again, another amazing set up!! Thanks @_missgc!!
This one is super easy and really assists in making those friends to 10!! Grab an Acrylic Tens Frame Board, and then use the counters, use the chickpeas (read how to make your own rainbow chickpeas here!!) and use the numerals to build on number recognition even more! PHEW!
Lego Numbers
Ahhh lego. The ultimate play-based tool. A definite must in every classroom or home. I love how @popandpudplay have used the lego number cards with her kids to make the numeral representation.
This is one of those activities that can be extended by incorporating addition, subtraction and even multiplication or division! Endless possibilities!
