The holidays are fast approaching and if the weather here in Queensland is anything to go by, it will be HOT! Eek. So, let’s add 10 things to that summer holiday list of yours!
- Pop a tent up in the backyard or make a tent in the house (if you are game) and set it up with some pillows and books for a fun cooler experience!
- If you have a trampoline, be like Bluey and Bingo and pop a sprinkler underneath! You could even use their games as inspo.
- Wash the cars together – the real ones, or play ones.
- Jump in the bath tub and experiment with pouring and filling whilst in swimmers, one big sensory tub!
- Play dough straight out of the fridge to build and manipulate with, it’s honestly the best! Make some ice cream cones and pretend you have an ice cream shop!
- Oh no! The dinosaurs are trapped in the ice. Add some different coloured water and trap the dinosaurs in the ice (there is prep work here!) and then add salt and a hammer and see who can untrap their dinosaur first.
- Painting with your hands and feet! It is one of the best experiences as you experiment with making marks on the paper, this one is perfect for a group effort!
- Gardening in the cool mornings or evenings; getting the kids to plant something that they can nurture over the holidays can be so much fun, and then watching it grow and measuring it!
- Wash the babies! Get the dolls that can get wet and have the kids give them a wash, add some cloths and a towel, and show them how to be careful while washing.
- Find some shade and lay down and watch the clouds roll by, and spot what you can see. Maybe you’ll find a dragon or a bunny or something else!
What do you love to do during the holidays?
With the Summer holidays being the longest here in Australia, it means that you have more than just the usual two weeks and can pack in some really great memories and stay cool at the same time!
